(ii)  The close-gate time will be set up at each checkpoint due to traffic regulations and secure operation of the competition. Those runners, who fail to pass through the checkpoint within the given time, will be disqualified from the race. 11 Qualification 1)  Marathon: Over 18 years old as of the day of the Race (except high school students) 1-1) Mass Race Male and female athletes capable of finishing the race within 6hrs 40mins. 1-2) Wheelchair Division About 25 male and female athletes capable of finishing the race within 2hrs using wheelchairs designed for racing. 1-3) Invited Athletes (i) Non-Japanese male athletes recommended by JAAF. (ii) Japanese male athletes recommended by JAAF. 2)  10km Race: Over 16 years old as of the day of the Race 2-1) Mass Race Male and female athletes capable of finishing the race within 1hr 30mins. 2-2) Special Race Male and female athletes with disabilities capable of finishing the race within 1hr 30mins. i) 25 male and female athletes using wheelchairs designed for racing. ii) 50 pairs of male and female visually impaired athletes with companions. iii) 100 male and female mentally impaired athletes. iv) 50 male and female "transplant" athletes. 12 Entrants Marathon : 25,000 athletes 10km Race : 5,000 athletes 13 Entry Fee Marathon : US$100 (provisional) 10km Race : US$50 (provisional) 14 Application 1) Procedure Through Internet or regular post (Note: In the case of regular post, an extra 500 yen will be charged.) 2) Application Period Beginning on June 18, 2006. 3) Screening In case of the number of applicants exceeds the prescribed number, entrants will be decided by lottery.
