● Greetings
| The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Japan Association of Athletics Federation founded the Tokyo Marathon Foundation on June 30, 2010. The foundation’s goal is to ensure the ongoing stable operation of the Tokyo Marathon and to develop the marathon into the premier event in the world with large numbers of participants from home and abroad. To make the event more appealing, Tokyo Marathon 2011 will introduce charity slots for the first time and expand the Family Run activity which was very well received in 2010. In the future, the Foundation will accept more foreign participants and organize other events throughout the year. |

〈Tokyo Marathon Foundation’s logo information〉 The three blocks that lie beneath represent the three essential momentums that keep the Tokyo Marathon going: joy of running (runners), pride of helping (volunteers and charity crew), and fun of cheering (street spectators and TV viewers). The horizontal bar that connects the three blocks symbolizes the Tokyo Marathon Foundation, which does exactly that for the event. A traditional color representing the spirit of Edo (Tokyo’s former name), a shade of purple known as Edo Murasaki, is used throughout the logo. |
